How much does a website cost?

When I tell people that I create websites and online stores for a living, the first question in conversation is often, „How much does a website like that cost you?“

The question isn’t quite as easy to answer, though, because you could just as easily ask „How much does a car cost?“ or „How much does a house cost?“ The answer to those questions is usually „It depends…“The question isn’t quite as easy to answer, though, because you could just as easily ask „How much does a car cost?“ or „How much does a house cost?“ The answer to those questions is usually „It depends…“

Yeah what does it come down to? 🤔

Do you want a 15 year old Skoda Fabia or a new Mercedes? With or without air conditioning? Practical or sporty? All these factors ultimately determine the price. In the case of a website, it’s the same way.

Design

Do you want a customized template „off the shelf“ or a custom design with a concept that fits your business? A landing page for a product may take less time to create than the development of a complete website, where there is no CD or concept yet. The customer can of course also decide, depending on the budget, whether he wants a purchased optical template adapted to his company (colors, logo, fonts) or a custom designed website.

Features

Do you just want a simple „business card“ website or do you want to sell products, take appointment bookings or possibly handle FAQs via a chatbot? The time you invest as a web developer increases with the requirements of the website. As you can see, there are several features and variable efforts that affect a website and therefore you need to clarify all factors in advance to be able to quote a price.

Consulting

A big point in the creation of a website is of course also the consultation. Many customers often do not know what they want and here web designers / developers are available for advice. Trained web designers with many years of experience, know exactly how to design a website so that it appeals to the respective target group. In addition to color theory and knowledge about user experience, there are numerous other points that must be considered. Therefore, we come directly to the next point.
